What “karat” actually means
Karat (K) measures how much pure gold is in a piece, out of 24 parts. 24K is 100% pure gold, 22K is about 91.6% pure, and 21K is about 87.5% pure — the rest being other metals added for strength and colour. The higher the karat, the more pure gold, and the higher the price per gram.
24K gold — purest, best for investment
